Reflections & Projections: McLaughlin Furnace Group 2020

As the year, and decade, comes to an end, McLaughlin Furnace Group is taking the time to reflect on how far the company has come since its creation in 2007. McLaughlin’s relatively brief, but already highly successful existence has been marked by the footprints established in the heat treat industry as a breakout company. With unique designs, custom furnaces, and becoming an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) as opposed to simply a service company, McLaughlin has been able to gain an advantage against competitors who've been in the industry much longer, securing many high end clients in the process.

2020 Outlook
 
Exciting developments are on the horizon, with the first pusher furnace line startup expected in the first quarter. McLaughlin will also be releasing a Batch IQ line that includes the Tru-Temp Temper Furnace, Charge Car, Tru-Mix Endothermic Generator, and two new products, the Tru-Carb Integral Quench Furnace and Tru-Wash Spray Dunk Washer. Other new developments include Product U with a strong focus on highly customized furnaces to fit specific customer needs. Customer centric policies have helped McLaughlin stand apart in the industry, creating greater value through personalization rather than standardization. 
 
Product expansion necessitates a larger facility, and in summer 2020, McLaughlin plans on transitioning to a new building where they can build larger furnaces and increase in-house capabilities. The new building will more than double capacity, jumping McLaughlin up from 17,000 sq. ft. to 47,500 sq. ft.

Recipe for Success
 
The Mclaughlin Furnace Group is comparatively young in the industry, making its accomplishments all the more impressive. The driving force behind all the innovation is founder Jeff McLaughlin, who has served as a powerful catalyst for the success and vision of the company. By listening to customers, and being able to adapt when issues arise, Jeff has built a company that is able to remedy all issues with ease. McLaughlin has an impressively quick response time, and is faster than industry standard on everything they do—setting the new stride and benchmark for the industry. 

McLaughlin brings with him a wealth of experience which has led to a cutting edge business serving as a one-stop-shop for equipment, with increased capabilities such as laser cutting and CNC machining. Lead times are tightly controlled along with quality, and since almost everything is made in house, McLaughlin has the ability to be more adaptable and in total control of every project. 

It comes as no surprise then, that Jeff was named one of the top 25 Most Influential People in the North American Heat Industry, and his son Ryan received Heat Treat Today’s 40 Under 40 Honorable Mention. Both are recognized for their dedication of service to their customers, and commitment to pursue skills and knowledge about the heat treat industry.
